How much energy did Spirit Solar's own system produce in 2010?

Hi, I'm Erica. I started Spirit Solar because I am passionate about solar power and the positive impact it has on the environment.

Since I had solar panels installed on my own house in Reading, I've had great fun monitoring the results with my children. With each system, you get a hand-held monitoring device which enables you to see what you've generated each day, and also you can look back over time like I've done below.

The system is a 3.36kWp system on a south facing roof in sunny Reading, installed at the end of 2009. The SAP forecast says the system should produce 2800kWh per year. This target was achieved in mid September so this was certainly an underestimate in 2010.

So far this year the system has produced 31% more kWh than expected. Check out the graph below to see how that breaks down by month. Every month has been better than expected except rainy August which was 8 kWh down on forecast (2%); April was 47% above the forecast!

The forecast from PVGIS says the system will produce 3050 kWh per year.

In 2010 the system produced 3415 kWh, 22% more than forecast by SAP, and 12% more than PVGIS.
Check out the graph below to see how that breaks down by month. Every month has been better than expected except rainy August which was 8 kWh down on forecast (2%) and December which was exactly on forecast; April was 47% above the forecast!

In 2010 the system produced 3415 kWh, 22% more than forecast by SAP, and 12% more than PVGIS Sunny Beam system monitor
